Spring in Magnolia is our favorite season to shoot — and it's over before you know it. The wildflowers bloom, the pines go bright green, and the Texas heat hasn't clocked in yet. Here's how we make the most of it with your family.
Why Spring Wins
The light in spring is softer and the temperatures are actually pleasant — which matters a lot when you have toddlers. Nobody's melting, nobody's cranky, and the golden-hour light lands right around a reasonable bedtime. It's the sweet spot.
Where We Shoot
Unity Park is our Magnolia workhorse — open fields, mature trees, room for kids to run. Downtown Magnolia gives us brick and character for a different flavor. And if you have private acreage, even better — some of our favorite sessions happened in a family's own backyard under the pines.
What to Wear
Spring is the season for movement and color. Think flowy dresses that catch the breeze, light layers for the guys, and a coordinated palette instead of matching outfits. Pastels and soft neutrals photograph beautifully against the spring green. Skip the neon — it reflects onto faces and makes our editing job harder.
The Practical Stuff
We schedule spring sessions about 90 minutes before sunset. Bring snacks for the littles, a favorite toy, and anything that makes your kids laugh. Don't stress about perfect smiles — the in-between moments are the ones you'll frame.
