For family photos in Kingwood we usually start with Mercer Botanic Gardens, East End Park, and River Grove Park. We choose based on the look you want, the light at your session time, parking, and how much walking you want to do.
Mercer is strongest in spring, so we go early. Bluebonnets show up along the greenbelt edges in April. East End Park’s riverfront trails can flood after heavy rain. Summer brings mosquitoes along the water and at Creekwood.
Kingwood Service Association parks do not publish professional photo fees, so we confirm before booking. Mercer allows professional photography free of charge: sign in at the Visitor Center, finish 30 minutes before closing, and no drones. Lake Houston Wilderness Park charges $3 per day for visitors ages 13 to 65, and the City of Houston publishes a $154.42 professional photo fee per park per date.
